Let The Beauty Out

I do not own the songs Feel This.
Bethany Joy Galeotti. “Feel This.” _Feel This_. Hilasterion, 2008
Lyrics by Bethany Joy Galeotti, music by Bethany Joy Galeotti and Enation.
Enation. “Feel This.” _Feel This_. Hilasterion, 2008
Lyrics by Jonathan Jackson, music by Enation.

“Hope is the ability to hear the music of the future. Faith is the courage to dance to it.”

Bethany Joy Galeotti, Jonathan Jackson, and the members of Enation came together and created the two most beautifully done versions of one song with the same lyrics and same touching message. Both songs express a longing of grace, beauty, and hope in a world that has forgotten.
Enation unleashes a beautifully written and soul searching song and singer Jonathan Jackson adds so much serenity to the melody with his uplifting and steady tone.
The talented Bethany Joy Galeotti, who is my favorite female artist, has a truly stunning, honest, soulful, and pure voice which is also unleashed. The lyrics and melody are amazing as she adds her own individual flare to Enation’s ensemble.

Feel This
Enation

Said the more I sing this song
The more I feel your love fall down on me.
Said the more I sing this song
The more I feel your love fall down on me.
In the darkness I am found
Found with your love surrounding me.

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this
Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

Said the more I sing this song
The more I feel your love fall down on me
Said the more I sing this song
The more I feel your love is breaking me

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this
Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

Can you let go?
Can you let go?
Can you let go of the past?

What if I told you
What if I told you
Your tears have never been ignored.

You’re beautiful.
Your beautiful.
You’re brighter than before.
You’re brighter than before.

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this
Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

Feel This
Bethany Joy Galeotti
Featuring Enation

Its gotta be this one.
Don't have to fake it
You know I can take it.
What if I told you your tears haven't been ignored
And everything that was taken can be restored.

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

It's gotta be just right
Soul and spirit
Chords and the lyrics.
What if I told you that innocence is yours
And the beauty you have now is brighter than before,
Before.

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this
Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

Let go, Let go and believe
Let go, Let go and believe
Let go, Let go and believe
Let go

Feel this
Can you feel this?
My heart beating out of my chest.
Feel this
Can you feel this?
Salvation under my breath.

World Spins Madly On

I do not own the song Lightning Crashes.
Live.”Ligtening Crashes.” _Throwing Copper_ .Radioactive Records, 1994.
Lyrics by Ed Kowalczyk, music by Ed Keowalczyk, Chad Taylor, Patrick Dahlheimer, Patrick and Chad Gracey

A song which is incredible and I always enjoy listening to is Lightning Crashes by Live. It’s a beautiful song that I listen to numerous times a week, and is one of my top 5 favorites.

Lightning Crashes

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
Her placenta falls to the floor
The angel opens her eyes
The confusion sets in
Before the doctor can even close the door

Lightning crashes, an old mother dies
Her intentions fall to the floor
The angel closes her eyes
The confusion that was hers
Belongs now, to the baby down the hall

Oh I feel it comin' back again
Like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it

Lightning crashes, a new mother cries
This moment she's been waiting for
The angel opens her eyes
Pale blue colored eyes
Presents the circle
Puts the glory out to hide, hide

Oh I feel it comin' back again
Like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it, I can feel it

All right, all right, all right
I can feel it comin’ back again
Like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it
I can feel it comin' back again
Like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it
I can feel it comin' back again
Like a rollin' thunder chasing the wind
Forces pullin' from the center of the earth again
I can feel it
I can feel it, I can feel it

To me it refers to how things can happen in an instant and can be unexpected and unpredictable. The song is about life and death and the idea of a happy ending based on the transference of life; the ending of something giving meaning to the beginning of something else.

The story I found that goes with the song is really neat. After the song was written a girl they grew up with was killed by a drunk driver and so the song was dedicated to her, Barbara Lewis, to honor her memory and for her family to help them with their grief. She was also an organ donor who donated several of her organs including her heart, she literally lives on. Later on Live dedicated the song also to the victims of the tragedy at Columbine High School.

Derilium

So this past week and a half has seem to have gone by in a blur and so much has happened and changed that I’m still trying to catch up to my own life. To sum everything that has happened up…I got into the first real friendship-on-the-line fight with my best friend/sister, twice, I have literally been out every night doing something with friends, have even made some awesome new friends, and have been involved with nonstop unwanted boy drama, involving not just one boy but three, which I’m still confused about. So unlike the past couple of days when I’ve felt like I’m in fast forward today everything seems to be at a stand still which is making me feel on edge. So yesterday was St. Patty’s Day which meant that last night I had a ton of fun hanging out with the greatest of greatest friends…And yet this morning I got in a nonsense quarrel with someone who I really didn’t expect to complicate things and make such a big deal out of me not being able to go out of my way and see them last night when I had originally planed to. Maybe it’s just me and I’m somehow insensitive without meaning to be. So yes, this morning I had a nice hour argument over text (worse ever) which is always great. So now I’m all dazed and confused and real tired and an not as sure of things as I was say two days ago…So as for music preferences, I haven’t really had any as of lately. I’ve been listening to mostly alternative and rock but other than that I just haven’t found anything that’s been fitting to me. One group I did find recently that I really enjoy listening to is The Dirty Heads. The music is really refreshing and enjoyable to listen to, kind of has this cool breeze sense of summer vibe about it.
My favorite songs so far are Lay Me Down, Believe, Driftin, Chelsea, and Sails to The Wind, I also really enjoy their raw sessions and the spin they give to already recorded songs. So definitely check it out

Follow Me Down

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t. And contrary wise, what is, it wouldn’t be. And what it wouldn’t be, it would. You see?”-Alice

Growing up my favorite movie was Alice in Wonderland, which became my favorite book when I found my mom’s old copy of the story. I had been looking forward to seeing Alice in Wonderland since the beginning and became even more excited when I realized all the amazing potential that would come from such an amazing director (Tim Burton), intriguing story line, and extraordinary cast members Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, and Crispin Glover. So of course I went and saw the movie in 3D and loved it-and am going again… Before I saw the movie I though, I heard the soundtrack and instantly fell in like…

Almost Alice (music inspired by the motion picture Alice in Wonderland)
1. Alice-Avril Lavigne
2. The Poison- The All-American Rejects
3. The Technicolor Phase-Owl City
4. Her name is Alice- Shinedown
5. Painting Flowers-All Time Low
6. Where’s My Angel-Metro Station
7. Strange- Tokio Hotel & Kerli
8. Follow Me Down- 30H!3
9. Very Good Advice-Robert Smith
10, In Transit-Mark Hoppus and Pete Wentz
11. Welcome to Mystery- Plain White T’s
12. Tea Party-Kerli
13. The Lobster Quadrille-Franz Ferdinand
14. Always Running Out of Time-Motion City Soundtrack
15. Fell Down A Hole-Wolfmother
16. White Rabbit- Grace Potter and The Nocturnals
17. You Are Old, Father William- They Might Be Giants
18. Alice’s Theme- Danny Elfman

The album is filled with so many fun and talented artists each with the perfect not-like-the-other song which come together creating the right vibes for the wonderful spontaneous chaos type of movie Alice in Wonderland is.
All of the songs are good, my favorites are Her Name is Alice, Painting Flowers, Strange, In Transit, Where is My Angel, Welcome to Mystery, Alice's Theme, and White Rabbit.
Also, there’s the actual Alice in Wonderland soundtrack, which has all the setting music heard in the movie. The music is by Danny Elfman who has done incredible work, such as A Nightmare Before Christmas and Edward Scissorhands, and he is at it again. Elfman composed such a variety of unique songs which are mystifying and intriguing and range anywhere from high tempo to low tempo, quick and intense to soft and peaceful, and have such a dream-like and harmonious sensation about them. They are surrealistic and strange and fit perfectly with Alice’s adventures in Wonderland. The music is wonderfully orchestrated and displays a lot of well placed talent. It is incredible music.

Welcome to Mystery

I do not own the song Two Years Before the Mast.
Astronautalis.”Two Years Before the Mast.” _Pomegranate_ .Eyeball Records, 2008.
Lyrics by Andy Bothwell, music by Andy Bothwell with help from other artists.

Two Years Before the Mast by Astronautalis. Right now I am loving this song. Astronautalis is Andy Bothwell, besides singer he writes all the lyrics and lots of the music as well. His music is rap plus a little bit of everything else, and it’s not the kind of rap that first comes to mind for most either. His lyrics can be weird at times but they have a lot of stories and metaphores behind which is neat. Also, in a couple of his songs (like in Two Years Before the Mast) the words get run together so it can be a little unclear what is being said at first, until listening to the song a couple times.
It took forever for me to try and get the lyrics together and these are as close to the words as it gets ha. There are a few places where it’s just too fast and I’m really not sure what's being said and I can’t seem to find the lyrics anywhere, so enjoy… also whtever is in bold are things that im not sure are right

Two Years Before the Mast

Two years spent before the mast, and no one knows the secrets that
We're hiding.
If word got loose he'd face the lash, and thirteen loops would hold him fast
In silence.
Things are not always as they seem to be
Outside us.
Devil got a poor Persephone but they can't take,
They can't take you from me.
They can't take you from me, can't take you from me, can't take you from me.

Mr. Jones done made a mistake, its all business.
Worst thing than a watery grave, a poor ictus.
Found and bound a barrel of grain in the hole listless
A hollow half out of dismay, afraid princess.
I guess I've gone soft in my age, they call it instinct.
The rebels get the devil to pay and the cat kissing.
Gonna start a new ought to send it to the brig
But strongest not to give and still water calm winds.
And all things aren’t what they seem to be and a small wall separating Earth from Eden one rib did give Eve a meaning and one snip might could keep a secret with a short head hair and a change of clothe fit right in and work soak in oakum four fort nights and she'll know what with opium it might slip by but for imposing.

Two years spent before the mast, and no one knows the secrets that
We're hiding.
If word got loose he'd face the lash, thirteen loops would hold him fast
In silence.
Things are not always as they seem to be
Outside us.
Devil got poor Persephone, but they can't take
They can't take you from me.

Lit by the sheers
Twist of her hair
To the air, handsomely.
Until they
Floated down, among the clouds reflected on the, glassy sea.
And when
Winds disappeared, stripped almost bare, bathed in the, transfixed state.
And all things are what they seem to be.
She floated next to me.
Just out of reach.
There is no knots so steadfast it won’t go broke in the middle of monsoons you both don’t show waiting watching the wet lips it blows so through blinded mind of the red sky in oxide clouds give just as designated response and blooms coupled up with stem it’s stolen once you poke a bridge you get the bulk and a world pitch pulled through your shirt with soft hands and a soak stone.
Mr. Jones is a poor soul who walked in, to a tempest and less time to pull, fools hit them with whipping and head sale but who's the best man, can it end when it’s almost through. So we paid our key. For the sin of a reckless dream. In the scene where the secrets sleep between me and the devil and the deep blue sea.

Two years spent before the mast and no one knows the secrets that
We're hiding.
If word got loose he'd face the lash, and thirteen loops they'd hold him fast
Iin silence.
Things are not always as they seem to be
Outside us.
Devil got poor Persephone but they can't take,
They can't take you from me.
They can't take you from me, can't take you from me, can't take you from me.

So his lyrics can be wired and questionable at times and can make no sense but I find the songs enjoyable to listen to even if I don’t always know what’s going on. The meaning behind these lyrics is really interesting and there are a lot of references that are made. So I broke down the chorus a little just to give a feel of what’s going on…
“Two years spent before the mast” -Two Years Before the Mast is a story by Richard Henry Dana that was written after he spent two years sailing to California and back in the 1830’s, “before the mast” was what they called where sailors would stay on the ship. The song's main references pertain to ships and sailing and i believe the book in general.
"and no one knows the secrets that we’re hiding” -I guess the book is about how poorly the sailors were treated, which plays into this verse.
“If word got loose he'd face the lash, and thirteen loops would hold him fast, in silence” -This is talking about a hangman's noose which were tied with thirteen loops. And from my perspective it sounds like the line is talking about how if anyone had known that Dana had been keeping a journal that he would have been hung. It’s pretty easy to get “hold him in silence” is being hung.
“Devil got poor Persephone”-I found thid to ber really intersting... So according to Greek mythology Persephone was taken by Hades to the underworld where she was forced to be his bride, this earned her the title goddess of the underworld (she was also the goddess of seasons). After some time she was going to be allowed to go back to her mother, until she ate seven pomegranate seeds offered to her by Hades. It was a known rule that anyone who ate while in the underworld was not allowed to return. However because of certain circumstances it was allowed for Persephone to return to her mother every year bringing with her sun, flowers and harvest (spring) but she still had to stay with Hades in the underworld for four months of the year which meant dark months (winter). SO that's what it means by the devil gettin Persephone, that she was taken and then "tempted."
Something that I found to be interesting about the pomegranate mentioning in this is that Astronautalis’ newest album is titled Pomegranate…it's is also suppose to be the food of Hade.
There's also a lot of other things to be found in the song, like the mentioning of Eve and the story behind that as well as the talking about Mr. Jones.
Another favorite of mine by Astronautalis is Oceanwalk.

Got It Made

So for the past few months there has been one event that I've been really looking forward to. And it went down last night at the Kitting Factory. The Theory of a Deadman concert...three bands opened for Theory of a Deadman, all but one were new to me and the last one was one I had somehow managed to have forgotten about...Every one of them sounded amazing live which was great because today it can be hard to find actual gifted artists.

The first to be heard was a newcomer and was one I had never heard of before. Taking Dawn which is all rock rock was really good and got the crowd going.I don't know to much about the band except for they they are new to Roadrunner Records, the lead singer is a joker and is quite funny, and they have good songs and even batter guitar solos. It was a great way to start an amazing concert.

Another new band I was introduced to last night who I am falling in love with, maybe as much as Theory of a Deadman, is Adelitas Way. Adelitas Way was amazing and aside from their great talent, the band members were easy on the eyes too, especially lead singer Rick who also has a dead set sexy voice.I hope they come back real soon because most definitely have to go to more of their shows. A couple of their songs which I particularly enjoyed are last Stand, Closer to You, and Dirty Little Thing. By far an AMAZING group!

The last band to perform before Theory was Halestorm, who somehow managed to slip my mind before last night. A couple of my favorite songs are It's Not You, I'm Not an Angel, and Bet You Wish You Had Me Back. Almost, if not all, of their songs are about a relationship ending badly and are a bit on the depressing side but even so I love the songs and music. last night they really but on a good show and sounded way good as well. When Lizzy, the singer, first came out on stage she started singing slow and mellow and the notes she was hitting were amazing and her vocals sounded stunning. They also did a group drum solo later on which was intriguing and so much fun to watch.

And last but definitely not least was Theory of a Deadman! They were so so so much more than amazing and sound even better live. It was such an incredible concert and words can't even describe the feelings of watching them perform and how much fun it all was. If I had to choose my top favorite songs of the night it would be So Happy, All or Nothing, bad Girlfriend, Hate My Life, and No Surprise. I went to the concert with my best friend/"sister"/roomie and the two of us had a blast rocking it out on the floor, standing about 5 feet from the stage, listening to great bands, and making new friends ha. Best concert I have been to by far!!

Sweet Silver Lining

I do not own the song Hold My Hand
Lyrics by Abbie Johnson(main vocals, guitar), Rachel Davis (vocals, piano), and Amanda GAllivan (drums), music by Abbie Johnson, Rachel Davis, and Amanda Gallivan.

So two, well actually three, "heart wrenching" events have happened within Thursday of last week till now...
... the first involving my best friend who was personally bashed by another friend of mine in a very public and hurtful manner, which set off a lot of people and in the end through all the hurt there was love, support, friendship, and loyalty and it was amazing to see people I know fight against one single person's discrimination. After I had a few days to settle down from everything I remembered a quote that I read a while ago on the back of a record (for some reason I can't remember which one now) and kind of wanted to share it because I think it speaks truth...
"First they put away the dealers, keep our kids safe and off the street. Then they put away the prostitutes, keep married men cloistered to home. Then they shooed away the bums, then they beat and bashed the queers, turned away asylum-seekers, fed us suspicions and fears. We didn't raise our voice, we didn't make a fuss. It's funny there was no one left to notice when they came for us."

And on a brighter note haha...
Introducing Blind Justice. Blind Justice is a newer local band who has a growing following and is made up of Abbie Johnson, Rachel Davis, and Amanda Gallivan. Abbie Johnson is 17, sings, plays guitar, writes own music and lyrics, and is one of my closest friends/"little sister." So band is especially close to me because I am so proud of Abbie and the amazing job the group has done so far. They performed on Saturday night at the Venue in a battle of the bands type thing and it was the first time that I heard them play together. Knowing that someone close to me not only has an amazing voice but also puts so much passion in their music makes me proud.
I heard the song Hold My Hand on Monday and instantly fell in love with it because as usual the song somehow managed to describe everything I've been feeling lately, especially after the special Valentines Day I spent with someone who I am probably in way to deep with for my own good hahaha.

Hold My Hand

This life don't last forever
So tell me what we're waiting for
We're better off being together
Than being miserable alone

Cause I would never fall and you would never fall, but together we could be all right
Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold, we hold each other till we see the sunlight

So if you just hold my hand
Baby I promise that I'll do
All I can, things will get better
If you just
Hold my hand
Nothing can come between us
If you just hold, hold my, hold my
Hold my hand

The nights are getting darker
And there's no peace inside
So why make our lives harder
By fighting love tonight

Cause I would never fall and you would never fall, but together we can be all right
Cause when it gets dark and when it gets cold, we hold each other till we see the sunlight

So if you just hold my hand
Baby I promise that I'll do
All I can, things will get better
If you just
Hold my hand
Nothing can come between us
If you just hold, hold my, hold my
Hold my hand

I can tell that you're tired of being lonely
Take my hand, don't let go, baby hold me
Come to me and let me be your one and only
So I can make it all right in the morning
I can tell that you're tired of being lonely
Take my hand, don't let go, baby hold me
Come to me and let me be your one and only
So I can make it all right in the morning

Hold my hand
Baby I promise that I'll do
All I can, things will get better
If you just
Hold my hand
Nothing can come between us
If you just hold, hold my, hold my
Hold my hand
If you just hold, hold my
Hold my hand

I know for sure that this along with another song can be heard on their MySpace page and I wish there was more out there because I could listen to them forever but as of right now going to one of their gigs is your best shot at experiencing the beauty of their young, raw talent.

No songs have really been on my mind lately, in fact I haven't actually listened to music much these past few days which is extremely out of the norm ( I've been going back and forth between a mix, Marc Broussard and LeAnn Rimes Family CD), so I think I'm going to do something new since my music intuition is lacking this week. On days like this when I don't really know what I'm in the mood to listen to I turn to artists like Marc Broussard who have a settling voice which is what my Lazy Day Mix consists of.
(P.S. If you haven't heard of Marc Broussard I highly recommend him because his music is amazing!)
So I am going to share with you my Lazy Day Mix which happens to have 12 of the 25 most listened to songs on my iPod...

Sleep- Poets of the Fall
The Crow and the Butterfly- Shinedown
Follow Me- Uncle Kracker
More Time- Needtobreathe
Home-Marc Broussard
Beautiful Disaster- Jon McLaughlin
Last Train Home- Ryan Star
Watch Over You- Alter Bridge
The Beauty of Who You Are- Marc Broussard
Little Wonders- Rob Thomas
Need You Now- Lady Antebellum
Her Diamonds- Rob Thomas
Good Friend- Nine Days
Drift Away- Uncle Kracker
Heart breaker- Matt Wertz
Here Comes the Sun- The Beatles
Hello Lonely (Walk Away From This)- Theory of a Dadman
Always Will Be- Raining and Ok
Lonly Night In Georgia- Marc Broussard

I am not sure if any of the songs will reappear in later posts, but you never know. I do know for sure that Marc Broussard will show up some time in the near future because I just can't resist.
I lover discovering new artists and hearing new songs so maybe you might find a new favorite as well.

Quicksand

I do not own the song Quicksand or Maybe.
Everly."Quicksand."_B Tracks, Vol.1_. Everly, 2009.
Everly."Maybe."_B Tracks,Vol.2_. Hilasterion, 2009.
Lyrics by Bethany Joy Galeotti and Amber Sweeney, music by Bethany Joy Galeotti and Amber Sweeney.

I have been so drained lately that when it came to thinking about what I was going to post I was going to take the easy way out and pick a song, write a little about it, and be done with it. Then I thought about everything that has gone on this week..So far I have been in an argument that I wasn't even aware was an argument-there was no actual arguing going on what so ever- with a "friend"-we'll call him John- who may or may not be mad at me for reasons unknown-I say this because he has yet to actually talk to me in the 4 times I have seen him since the "argument" and yet he has no problem texting me at god forsaken hours in the morning, and men say we're difficult- which has continued to confuse and infuriate me all week. And on top of that I have spent more time doing homework this week than I ever thought possible, and it was also mom's birthday-which I may have forgotten about until the night before.

So I put some thought in my song choice. I knew from the start of this project that there was one artist who I wanted to hopefully introduce because I find their music inspirational, breathtaking and perfect ha. But then I had trouble choosing which song and there were three that stood out to me in relation to everything. So I chose two of their songs!

Everly is a duo of Bethany Joy Galeotti and Amber Sweeney who both have amazing vocal and instrumental skills.

Quicksand

I like to say
I make good use of my time
While you've been away
And It's true
I've been at my piano every day
Thinking of you
They talk around
I hear them whisper
It's the funniest thing really
They think you're gone forever
I know the truth
It's just getting hard to believe it

When they all tell me it's over
Even the stars are aligned
And I...
I follow the signs so clearly
And still I fall in
They quicksand's pulling me down
I follow the signs so clearly
And still they catch me
The quicksand's pulling me down

I'm not the same
I can't sleep nights
And now I'm calling your name when I do
And yet without you
They say I get on better, better, better

When they all tell me it's over
I'll damn the gods until the stars are aligned
And I...

I follow the signs so clearly
And still I fall in
The quicksand's pulling me down
I follow the signs so clearly
And still they catch me
The quicksand's pulling me down

Look at my life and look at my face
Can't you see my heart bleeding down my sleeve
So you're holding my hand and holding my heart
But I just want to feel your breath inside me
So I can breathe
Somewhere in the distance
catch a spark, a grace, a hope
Something that makes me feel like I'm alive
It's never too soon
It's never too late
So I start screaming out
I see your face
I see your hand reaching down
And I yell to you
And I say...
I follow the signs so clearly
And still I fall in
The quicksand's pulling me down
I follow the signs so clearly
And still they caught me
The quicksand's pulling me down
I follow the signs so clearly
And still I fall in
The quicksand's pulling me down
I know you can feel me rising
And I'm on fire
If you keep on pulling me out
Look at my life and look at my face
And look where I've come
To get to this place with you

Be here to sit and lay at your feet
And rest in your arms
And listen to your heartbeat

My favorite lines are: "Somewhere in the distance I catch a spark, a grace, a hope; something that makes me feel like I'm alive. It's never too soon. It's never too late."

The best feeling is that feeling you get when you find something or someone that makes you know that "this" is what life is all about, and makes your life so much more worth living. Having something to live for; something that gives life meaning, somehting that makes you realize ther is more to life.
...a spark-happiness, laughter. Even if only for a moment, it's the little things in life that sometimes mean the most.
...a grace-beauty, serenity. The magic and wonders of life.
...a hope- confidence, faith. Knowing that there is something to look forward to even though your not sure what. You just know.
"It's never too soon. It's never too late." It never being too soon or too late to act on something is reassuring (I like when a song restores confidence in the struggles life has to offer). There's a sense of doubt that everyone gets at some point in time. The hesitation you get when you're in the midst of considering confronting something new(which can be scary) and instead of taking chances and putting ourselves out there we "convince" ourselves that it's too late or that now is not the right time. And then we are left with the what ifs.

Another one of my favorites by Everly is a song called Maybe which to me is the voice of doubt and realization in relation to past choices; coming face to face with the what ifs whan it really is to late. It's the opposite of Quicksand which to me is more about hope.

Maybe

Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I was looking in all the wrong places
Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I was searching all the wrong places

If I knew that you were coming for me I would have stayed in one place
If I knew that you were coming for me I would have made my peace

Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I was dreamless and full of suffering
Maybe I was wrong
Every time you said you loved me I went running on my own

But I can see you now, I'm coming home
can see you now, I'm coming home

Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I was looking at all the wrong faces
Maybe I was wrong
Maybe I was searching in all the wrong places

If I knew that you were coming for me I would have stayed in one place
If I knew that you were coming for me I would have made my peace

But i can see you now, I'm coming home
I can see you now, I'm coming home
I have my life in my own hands which led me through the promise land
Taking what I can and never looking back
But I fell so far, so fast
And all the years of me goning past you in the crowd are catching up at last
And there you are looking at me with eyes full of love
Giving me another chance to come home and dance
I make my peace now
I feel the pain come down
Walk towards the light, thank the Lord, before I say good night

Blue Skies

I do not own the song For Blue Skies.
"For Blue Skies" _Strays Don't Sleep_ One Little Indian, 2006.
Words by Mathew Ryan, music by Neilson Hubbard and Matthew Ryan.
And If I were really cool I would download a link so you could all hear the song for yourselves, but didn't...

There is one song I have been drawn to lately. I'm not really sure why this song has been stuck in my head for the past week because it's not really the happiest of songs but either way For Blue Skies by Strays Don't Sleep is one of my most favorite songs. Even now as i sit hear listening to the song play on repeat in the background for what seems like the hundredth time it still never ceases to amaze me.
For Blue Skies
It's been a long year
Since we last spoke
How's your halo?
Just between you and I
You and I and the satellites
I never believed you
I only wanted to
Before all this
What did I miss?
Do you ever get homesick?
I can't get use to it
I can't get use to it
I'll never get use to it
I'll never get use to it
I'm under that night
I'm under those same stars
We're in a red car
You asleep at my side
Going in and out of the headlights
Could I have saved you?
Would that've betrayed you?
I wanna burn this film
You alone with those pills
What you couldn't do I will
I forgive you
I'll forgive you
I'll forgive you
I forgive you
I'll forgive you
I first heard the phrase "blue skies" from my grandma. She would refer to happy memories and good times as "blue skies," and when things weren't always going my way she would tell me that "the blue skies are soon to come." So when I first heard the song title, For Blue Skies, it intrigued me and automatically made me smile and think of "blue skies."
The song is so much more than that though. The lyrics contradict with my initial reaction to "blue skies." The lyrics are emotional which isn't surprising since the singer, Matthew Ryan, who also wrote the song along with several others in my iPod delivers the message with such a touching melancholic voice. It comforts me. When I listen to the song I get this feeling of content because of the heart and soul within the music.
There's also something about the song that makes me smile...
It's the steady peaceful melody. While the song might be thought of as being depressing at the same time it's enhancing and beautiful and gives a sense of ease which makes me forget everything and just enjoy the moment.
It's also the ending. "For blue, blue skies" being sung over and over again, almost as if trying to reassure you.
Most think the subject of the song is a loved one lost to suicide, a breakup, or the reappearance of and old love. To me the song is about forgiveness and redemption, and of reminiscing and thinking of the what ifs. It also has a feel of resentment, betrayal, and closure.
I did my research and looked into the meaning of the lyrics and the story behind the song...The song is about the emotions Ryan went through when his brother was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Maybe I'm messed up since I find comfort in the song but to me its one of those feel good songs.
